Mylo Before Bed

Remember when you were 5 years old? How about not wanting to go to sleep?

Well, Mylo is your typical 5 year old who experiences the exact same thing in the book “I’m NOT Complaining, Just Explaining.”

As the book begins, Mylo is preparing for his very first day at school. We all can go back to that time of life, the excitement, the unknown. That was a time when many different feelings could be experienced. Feelings that my keep us awake.

Here is how the exchange goes:

“Mylo, you need to go to bed early tonight.” Mom said.

“Aw, Mom, do I have to? I will never be able to sleep. I’m too excited!”

“Mylo, quit complaining and go to bed.”

“I’m NOT Complaining, Just Explaining!”

This exchange that Mylo has with his Mom is so common. Sleep is an important part of life; kids need it. Use the Mylo as an example to open up a conversation on sleep or the many other life experiences.

Mylo’s experiences and statements are common. And “I’m NOT Complaining, Just Explaining” is a wonderful parenting tool to open conversations.
